MADE- TO-MEASURE BLUE JEANS
The Blue Jeans line, an absolute novelty for the Sanvenero tailoring workshop, is dedicated to the admirers of jeans fabric, or rather of the famous and timeless blue canvas, which has always been linked to Ligurian and, in particular, Genoese manufacturing. The jeans fabric was already known in the 15th century as “Jeane”, a name given to the loads of moleskin that were brought to Genoa for processing. Made with cotton yarns dyed deep blue, jeans fabric soon became the preferred material for work clothes, as it was highly resistant and cheap, so much so that it was also used for the uniforms of the Genoese navy. Mainly traded in the port of the Maritime Republic of Genoa, jeans became known, in French, as blue-jeans (or bleu de Gênes, blue of Genoa). Considered for centuries a “poor” material, in the twentieth century jeans fabric experienced a strong rise to popularity, which it still enjoys to this day, having become the symbol par excellence of young and “metropolitan” fashion.
If, initially, the jeans fabric was characterized by the typical indigo-blue color, with the advent of the textile industry and modern processing techniques, the shades have literally multiplied: today jeans are available in a wide range of shades and effects, such as fading and washes. The ever-growing popularity of jeans has meant that this material is used not only in men’s and women’s clothing, but also for the creation and covering of accessories and design objects.
The new Blue Jeans line by Sanvenero brings the world’s most famous blue fabric back to its original characteristics, starting with the processing techniques. The denim garments and accessories are made-to-measure and manufactured with the highest quality fabrics, originating in the city of Genoa and, even today, obtained with traditional yarns and methods. The products of the Blue Jeans line are dedicated to those who are looking for a traditional style with a touch of modernity, a meticulous attention to detail and a first-class service. In particular, we work with premium jeans fabric manufacturers and offer fabrics from Candiani, Kuroki and Blue Selvedge.
